mppd@yahoo.com
What do you folks use for 1/72 early F-4C/D builds? Prior to 1968 or so, I believe the Martin Baker Mk5 seats were installed - the headrests/parachute housing looking quite different than the Mk7 everyone is used to modeling. Thanks. Ben Brown
I don't know what's available in 1/72, but a possible source would be the Mk5s for an F-8 Crusader. Unfortunately, I found the ones available in 1/48 to be a little smaller than F-4 Mk5s. Ben
SCOUT712
You addressed a large gap in the assessories portfolio. There are sufficient decals out there for early B and C model Phantoms yet no one jumped onto that topic. I guess Jeffrey from Hypersonic Models would be a starting point since he is not afraid of 72 scale and already issued those seats in 48 scale IIRC. I have a pair of very crude metal seats from way back in time which I guess require more time to rework than to do it with a kit provided seat. Cheers Michael
mppd@yahoo.com
Thanks for the replies. I have an F-8 resin seat coming, and it looks like the metal shroud covering the parachute housing needs to be a little larger, and the pack is set back inside it a bit more. Will try to modify it to come up with something closer than using the later H7 seats that we are expected to settle for.
mppd@yahoo.com
Another F-4 cockpit related question - can anyone comment on the rear wall being a bit more vertical than most kit/resin cockpits give you? (Not sure if this would even be noticeable in 1/72 scale.)
