Ive heard a lot of people use those. What are the advantages?

I just use these

They're just very handy when you want to mix a small amount of paint, or pour out a small amount of thinner for brush painting or mix a small amount of epoxy. They're just handy and I find new uses for them all the time. At $11 for 500, they're cheap.

I bought mine years ago along with some glass sticks. I just mix up in that. Had them for years and years... I think I got them back when I was in Suffolk.

Because its glass I just wipe it out with an ol rag and reuse it.

The little silicine paper "cups" for fairy cakes are good for stuff, I get them from a local £1 shop. Good for putties and stuff, but I do like the metal trays Mr Hobby does.
