1/72 AZUR FRROM Export B-10

Hello

 

I am starting building a couple of AZUR-FRROM 1/72 export B-10 and there is a big question about the color inside.

On the instruction sheet it is written that the B-10 were aluminum with black or bronze green boxes but the export aircraft may have been "green".

Is there anybody here knowing more about that?

What are the dates the export aircraft were built? Was it after the 1942 aluminum shortage? That was about when it became common to use zinc chromate interiors on US built aircraft.

 

 

 

Also, I've seen your avatar logo for probably well over a decade now, but for the first time today i zoomed in to take a closer look and realized it is NOT a picture of a styracosaurus head 😄

The export dates were well before this date as the NEIAF were delivered from 1936 and the Argentinian in 1937.

 

Yes my avatar is the insignia of the French Air Force Apprenticeship School where I spent two years in the last century.

If it helps, the B-10 at the Air Force museum is the only aircraft left.  It was found during a Airshow in Brazil I believe it was in 1973.  According to the guys that went to the show in a C-5A from Dover, it was in a hanger and being used as a maint. training device.  Sometime after the show, an agreement was reached and another C-5 was sent to bring it to Dover for a short time before it was taken to Wright Patterson for restoration.  I never got a chance to see it because I decided not to go on the flight to Brazil and when it was at Dover I was at Lackland going through combat school to get ready for my second tour in S.E.A.

The museum might be able to help or maybe the Smithsonian.  As far as I know, Martin in completely gone so there would be no access to their records.

I painted mine green with black boxes based on photos in the Dutch Profile book Glen Martin 139WH. Be warned that the kit has some ugly fit issues including large gaps and steps on every major seam/join that required extensive filling, sanding, and rescribing. All of the flying surfaces have trailing edges that are way too thick and the horizontal stabilizers are thicker in the middle than at the root. The sliding portion of the canopy is so tall as to cause the windscreen and rear portion to stand proud of the fuselage by about 2 MM. Very disappointing. My kit went to the SOD until I can figure out how to fix the canopy issue.DSC05135.JPG

Perhaps studying the interior colors of a Martin Maryland or Baltimore would be helpful.

Being both were used in some numbers by the RAF, there might be some references available.

After all, they were built by the same firm, just a couple of years after the B-10s, so there is a good chance they were similarly finished.
