achterkirch
Looks like the F-35B impacted the KC-130J on the starboard wing area. From what I seen on scramble’s Facebook page both engines on the KC-130J starboard side have had their blades sheared off, the External fuel tank on that side is basically gone and there’s damage to the engine nacelles as well. The Hercules made an emergency landing in a field and every one made it out safe. As for the F-35, it impacted the ground and disintegrated after the pilot safely ejected. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=4056378767721960&id=145237522169457 https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/36806/reports-say-a-military-aircraft-has-crashed-near-the-salton-sea-in-california

Ken Cartwright
Really good to hear everyone is OK. That KC-130J pilot must have done an amazing piloting job in getting it down safely.
Da SWO
USNI photo shows the port refueling pod is gone (and the plane is pouring fuel into some farmers field). #1 engine has 2 blades missing, and the tips of the other 4 blades are gone. Engine#2 looks like it threw one blade. Long time before this plane flies again.
Dutch
Amazing airmanship on the part of the VMGR-352 KC-130J crew to get BuNo 166765 down in one piece without significant injury to the crew. Haven't heard anything about the F-35B pilot, other than he ejected and landed safely. Yes, IFR is a dangerous business. Edited September 30, 2020 by Dutch
southwestforests
Love it when everyone goes home for supper! 🙂 8 hours ago, Da SWO said: USNI photo shows the port refueling pod is gone (and the plane is pouring fuel into some farmers field). #1 engine has 2 blades missing, and the tips of the other 4 blades are gone. Has me wondering if they bellied in, wheels up. https://news.usni.org/2020/09/29/marine-f-35b-crashes-after-collision-with-kc-130-over-california-all-aircrew-recovered-safely

11bee
The pilots of the Herc better get some serious medals. I listened to the ATC recording and that guy sounds amazingly calm. Saw the headline that a KC and F-35 had a mid-air, was sure it was a repeat of that midair off of Japan a couple of years back, where the entire crew was lost. Tough old Herc! The fuselage closeup is painful to look at, she may be a write-off, load or maintenance trainer
Bounce
someone pointed out that buckle may be superficial from the irrigation pipe she tangled with.
SinisterVampire319
Lots of photos of it, available on Google. Also plenty of decal sheets too. Must have been a very popular airframe. Hope too, that they can repair it. Alan
