maxx91
I want to build a 1/144 and a early 1/72 B-1B. Has anyone built/modeled a 1/72 or 1/144 early B-1B Lancer Bomber with the exhaust nozzles with turkey feathers? If so, what exhaust nozzles were used or are there custom resin nozzles with turkey feathers? Any suggestion would be great. Just call me Ray
I'm pretty sure there are aftermarket parts for the 1/72, and also there've been a few 72 kits out there before they started routinely pulling the turkey feathers off so you might have some luck there too. I'll get back with some better research.
maxx91
The B-1B in 1/144 and 1/72 nozzles I'm looking for look similar to the F-14B/D and some F-16 GE engines. Picture attached of what they look like.
Dutch
Barracuda Studios offer late style exhaust nozzles. Res-Kit offers F-14D nozzles in 1/72 scale. & Dr. Pepper Resins also has a set. In either case, you would have to buy two sets.
Dave Williams
The B-1B exhausts only resemble the GE exhausts in the F-14 and F-16, they aren’t the same. The number of exhaust petals is different, plus they are different diameter (quite a bit larger on the B-1). When people were trying to get featherless exhausts for the 1/72 Monogram B-1B, one option tried was to use 1/48 F-15 exhausts. Also, I believe Dr Pepper resin has been out of business for many years. Edited October 18, 2020 by Dave Williams
maxx91
Dave, I have the 1/72 DR Pepper exhausts and they are too small for the Bone. I have tried 1/72 Hasegawa F-14B/D and Monogram/Revell F-16 GE nozzles and they are also too small for the 1/72 Bone. I have tried the 1/48 Shull24 F-16 Nozzle and it is way too big. Do you remember which 1/48 F-15 was used for the 1/72 Bone?
