Night Owl Models
Just taking a break from my full on 1/48 TA-4J Skyhawk project and working on these fun little novelty aircraft. I have to say my wife just loves them and that helps justify modelling so amen! lol. These little models do represent a challenge to take as many specs of the full scale and cram it into the compact size. Ill give them the same finishing treatment I would on any model to bump them up a bit good weathering, decals and detailing. Here is the kit pretty cheap about $15. believe it or not they make detail sets seen here by Retro Wing $8.00 The kit is so simple Detail set is actually pretty good, the ejection seat is exactly 1/48 scale Also another hilarious find is Two BOBs actually made a decal set for the F-16 aggressor squadrons. There are decals for pretty much every pattern So onto putting this together some cutting is in order to get this cockpit detail set in. Here is the before and after on the cockpit and canopy I also opened up the air intake cut out the backing and sand smooth, cut and re-positioned the flaps as well. Here I made some gear bay doors as the kit lacked them Onto the detail set no need to over think this just a primer coat then right into painting it. After a primer coat I pre shaded each ill let them dry overnight then start on the camouflage next these are a lot of fun.

Night Owl Models
Paint and Decals done. It was a bit tricky handling this model without parts breaking off. Fun build just waiting for some paint to arrive for the second plane in the blue scheme. I am going to stick them on a tarmac with some maintenance equipment.

Spruemeister
Really like these builds! Having fun is what the hobby needs to be about and the whole egg plane genre has hit a home run in that department. The add ons are a great compliment that just amp up the effect. Rick L. Night Owl Models
Thanks...yeh I like it too there is also a series called Freedom models compact series they are alot more detailed and seem to be some where between an egg plane and a full 1/48 I would say 1/60th scale. I bought their F-5E and an F-16D to try out. https://freedommks.com/portfolio_entries/compact-series/
