F-16
I only have access to Model Master paints here, so I am wondering what is a good MM color match for the BASE color for Have Glass 5? What MM color would come close to this... MRP 36170 I was thinking MM engine gray is too dark? MM Engine Gray Then I was looking at MM Neutral Gray... MM Neutral Gray Any other Model Master colors that would be better? I am not looking to replicate the "sheen" right now, just the "base" color for Have Glass 5. RichardL
Sorry, MM Neutral Gray is not even close since it's way too light. You cannot go by the color swatches or pictures posted online. Order an official Federal Standards color chip and try matching the various Model Master paints that are available to you. Mix them if necessary. You are just pissing in the dark without the color chip, which costs less than the price of a 1/48 modern kit.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
You mention only having access to MM, but I see you're in the USA; any reason you couldn't order MRP? I'm a 35 year MM user, but realized I absolutely could not do my F-35 using MM, even with my mixing skills. For my Have Glass scheme I received much advice here in ARC, and went with MRP, both the Have Glass gray and the Have Glass clear. To do some of the discolored RAM panels I also got the Neutral Gray of the same company and mixed it with the Have Glass gray. It's pre-thinned to spray, it sprays BEAUTIFULLY and cleans up quickly with lacquer thinner (which I already had from using Alclad). You won't regret this stuff. You'll want MRP 280 and 278, plus 039 if you want to add the Neutral Gray. MRP 280: https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/mrp280xxx.htm MRP 278: https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/mrp278xxx.htm MRP 039: https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/mrp039xxx.htm Edited November 27, 2020 by Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Camus272
36076 would be the closest, but lacks the effect of 36170.
