peter havriluk
Kit instructions suggest camo upper surfaces and light blue lower surfaces. The blue - - - I have some Tamiya rattle can German 'hellblau'. Good enough? Something else in a rattle can any more reasonable? Thanks!
Niels
The USAAF dessert scheme carried on the lend-lease Spit's are the same as the RAF dessert scheme. So the belly should be Azure Blue as you can see here: https://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/spitfire/spitfire_profile07.shtml
seawinder
I posted a reply with the link to another site in the thread you started at Hyperscale. While the USAAF scheme was basically the same as that of the RAF, there were some small differences in the individual colors as discussed at the site: "As for the Desert Scheme, Middle Stone (71-069) was similar in brightness thus probably looking identical in black and white but lacked the mustard tone of its MAP counterpart. It is closest to FS 30266. When paired with the later Dark Earth (DuPont 71-035) it would have had much greater contrast than the RAF originals or with 71-009. In contrast, Azure Blue (71-062) was very close to the RAF version aside from being a bit darker and has been matched with FS 35231." http://www.theworldwars.net/resources/resource.php?r=camo_usaaf
