So is there anywhere we can order any Mr. Hobby Aquaeous paints? I need H-309 and H-340 and cannot seem to find them anywhere. TIA.

You can order them from Taiwan if you don't mind waiting for 2-3 weeks for them to arrive:

May i recommend AK Real Color?  if you like Gunze Aqueous and Tamiya, you like these just as much! I cant speak for how accurate ALL their colors are, but the ones ive used so far have been right on the money. At least to my eyeballs. AND you can get them here in the States

I'm a huge fan of the Gunze Aqueous paints.  I thin them with plain old rubbing alcohol and do not put a primer coat down first.  I've never had an issue with them peeling when I mask over them.

Murph

Unfortunately, none of the modern US military jet colors such as Light Ghost Gray, Dark Ghost Gray, Light Gull Gray, and Gunship Gray are available in AK Real Color acrylics.

Only FS 34079, which is Gunze H-309 that Eric is looking for, is available.  FS 34097, which is Gunze H-340, is not available in AK acrylic.

I use AK Real Color paints as well.  Flory did a review, referenced below, which went through a large variety of thinners for compatibility, and the AK Real Colors appeared compatible with the vast majority, including water (albeit distilled water, not tap water).  It is unfortunate, though, that manufacturers whose products have been available in various markets, and have become beloved by modelers, don't always stay as readily available to those modelers, for a variety of reasons, including manufacturing issues, importing costs and legal issues, etc.  It sure would be nice, if unrealistic, to be able to get any of the paints we have at one point or other to get our hands on.  I have way too many paints brands in too many colors, but if I could stick with just one brand, it would likely be the Mr. Hobby / Mr. Color range.  They pretty much duplicate their colors in both their lacquer and aqueous ranges, so you can do either.  It remains a challenge to be able to conveniently buy the full range of the Mr. Hobby aqueous colors in the US.

Went ahead and ordered what I needed. Thanks guys for the input. I really don’t mind the wait as long as they definitely come in. Still had to clean and straighten the man cave for the next project.

cheers!
