Night Owl Models
Hi Y'all looking for some help to paint up a realistic laser pointer pod for the front of my MQ-8. It has an tinted blue green to the glass if anyone has tackled this on a build I would appreciate a process for a realistic result.
HeavyArty
I paint optics black first, then a couple coats of a clear color (green, red, blue, etc.) depending on the color of the actual optic. Then give it two or three coats of a clear gloss for depth. This method looks right to me. Edited December 15, 2020 by HeavyArty
Helo-Engineer
You could use a clear iridescent vinyl
Rotorman
Build the interior first and paint with desired color then use clear resin with mixed tamiya clear paint in the desired color with either green, blue to simulate color lens. Pappy121
Wot, like this Page 3, post #42 http://www.zone-five.net/showthread.php?t=29021&page=3 Sorry for the link, I cannot seem to get the images to attach to the message. I punched some discs out of some 'holographic" Christmas decorations. The decoration material is quite thin so I glue it to a sheet of clear packaging material using PVA glue and allowing to dry overnight first before punching the discs out Pappy Edited January 3, 2021 by Pappy121
