Tomcat Trebor
Hope someone can help me regarding the paint scheme. On the Hasegawa sheet for the 1/72 kit the underside shows the centre section of the aircraft in FS36118 but on the 1/48 kit it shows that the underside is in FS36270, no sign of FS36118. From some pictures on the internet, its maybe that the underside should be FS36270 but it is hard to tell. Can anyone confirm whether FS36118 was there or not. phantom
I did mine 36118.
achterkirch
https://www.airfighters.com/photo/32485/L/USA-Air-Force/McDonnell-Douglas-F-4E-Phantom-II/68-0338/ doesn’t really look like it had gunship gray on the bottom like most phantoms of that time period did. Though I would say that it appears in some photos that it did have a portion wrap under the leading edge of the wing.
Craig Baldwin
Both main landing gear doors in photos look to be 36270, a good indication of what the rest of the underside might be.
Ben Brown
I’d go with 36270 on the bottom: Google image search link Ben
Niels
This is the Hasegawa F-4E 30th Anniversary instructions. Underside should be FS36270 https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/2/1/3/115213-55-instructions.pdf
Tomcat Trebor
Many thanks for your help. I am going to leave FS36118 off the undersurface going by the colour of the undercarriage doors. Regards Robert
Niels
Note that the pylons have FS36118 on the "upper side" while the rest is FS36270. Similar to what you can see on SEA camo schemes.
