wisco8
This one has been sitting around for about 4-5 years finally was able to finish it. I used the Aires resin cockpit set, burner cans, wheel wells, Eduard Brassin wheels, brass pitot tubes and sensors. Paints used were Tamiya liquid primers, Mr color paints, Testors model master, Mig paints, Vallejo, Alclad II aqua gloss, and Goo-Gone. Hope you like how it turned out. Kind regards, Steve Edited January 13, 2021 by wisco8

I want to build the same kit but fix the rudder decal a bit better and add weathering. I think Ill explore my options though for a different resin cockpit set. Plus I just started using Mr color paints which are just super quality for workable finishes. Two of my favorite builder videos are Doogs' models and Plasmo on YouTube, I like how they pay attention to the smallest of details and describes the methods they use. crackerjazz
By the way, I once cleaned a model with the product and couldn't remove the oily film no matter how hard I tried and it turned a bit yellow over time. Was wondering what you used the Goo Gone for.. Edited January 23, 2021 by crackerjazz
MA Cooke
Great looking build - I've always loved colorful birds. I plan to do this one, as well. Do you mind sharing the mix for the blue? Funny, I, too, have the Hasegawa J model, an Aires cockpit set, and will use (almost exclusively) Mr. Color paints. (I assume you used lacquers?) The blue on the radome, as well as blues in a couple of future builds (P-51D "Cripes-A-Mighty", P-51B "Hell-Er-Bust", and an F-16 retro "Cripes-A-Mighty"), has me a bit concerned about mixing properly. (Especiall the VMFA-451, since it will have to match the decals.)
Mr.Happy
Wisco8, Great job on that Hasegawa J. The Hasegawa J is still the most accurate in shape compared to the current and older 1/48 F-4J’s out in the market today. Zoukei-Mura’s F-4J is nicely detailed but the aft end of the fuselage does not have the correct contour. (See more in the forums about the Zoukei-Mura Phantoms) BTW; Nice shelf collection too. aircal62
Beautiful build and one of the most beautiful paint schemes ever to adorn the F-4. The Marines seemed to have some of the most colorful and striking schemes on their phantoms. I buy a Hasegawa F-4J whenever I find them at a decent price as they are great builds and they look awesome built as your model testifies. Great work
