F-16
I remember reading somewhere, on one of the forums, that the leading edge slats on the F-86E could be "pinned" closed for maintenance? Are there any pics of this? Perhaps mentioned in a F-86E maintenance manual? If so, where would the "safety pin hole" be located on the slat? Pics of this would be great. Thanks. Sabrejet
No they can't be pinned: only on very early F-86A and later F-86Hs.
F-16
These two planes show a "safety pin" (with RFB flag) inserted into the aft flap edge... Scott CNJC-IPMS
Sabrejet
Can't see the images. I suspect they are modern warbirds. As said, only early F-86A and F-86H with the F-40 wing.
Sabrejet
Incidentally if you are using modern images for reference, anything goes: you'll get Canadair Sabre 5s painted as F-86Fs, F-40 wings on pretty much anything and even an F-86A with a narrow-chord wing with fence! Of course if you're modelling a modern F-86 then you can pretty much mix and match most things because there are few airworthy Sabres that represent accurate period schemes/configurations.
