CD72123- 1/72 C-130J Fat Albert

Recommended Posts

The C-130J scheme will not fill a 1/72 sheet by itself. Even though most of the markings are common, I do not want to include any of the three Fat Albert variations I already covered in CD72051.

So I decided to make this sheet to celebrate both the first and last Fat Alberts: In addition to markings for the latest C-130J (BuNo 170000), it will also have markings for the first Fat Albert, KC-130F BuNo. 150690. You will be able to build either option - or perhaps even both if you can source the national insignia elsewhere.

Let me know what you think. And yes, these are coming in 1/144 as well - most like a combo sheet covering all the Fat Albert options I included in CD72051 and this new sheet (CD72123).

What about the fill in aircraft, there was at least one TPS scheme C-130 with black Blue Angels markings while Fat Albert was in deeper maintenance which was a  KC-130F BuNo 148893 know as ‘Ernie’.

149806 was also in TPS markings working for the Blue Angels.

Almost done with these - but with different sheets for legacy and current Fat Alberts. Stay tuned - next two months are super busy with 15 new releases (including reprints) so I may not have time to make profiles, but they will be coming in early 2022.

Woohoo!  @eraucubsfan yes Zvezda is releasing the 1/72 short body C-130J model soon.  Or just buy a short body H and long body J and swap the engines.  That way you will have a short body J and a long body C-130H-30, KC-130T-30 or L-100-30.  I can't wait for the 1/144 release.
