This is, by far, the DUMBEST thread I've ever read on ARC.  And I've seen people arguing the F-14 was a great airplane, and new models of it should be built today.

I seriously hope no modelers use anything in here as the basis for any decisions about their medical health.

Sweet baby deities some of you are dumb.

Everyone who read this thread is now dumber.  I award you no points, and my God have mercy on your soul.

FFS...

Agee, dumbest thread in ARC history.

We won’t ever get back to normal with the attitudes here.

I agree.  I work with a guy that believes a variety of things...earth is flat....G5 causes Covid etc...the usual oddball stuff.

He was trying to convince me not to take the vaccine because they will inject me with nanobots...that will migrate to my brain.  Then the government can control my mind using my smart phone to wirelessly control the nanobots in my brain.  I replied that should help me organized my daily routine.  He is fun to listen too but after 5 minutes my brain starts to shutdown.  Heck if we had that level of technology....I'm sure the government would think of better things to do with such advanced technology.

Not to worry.
In 2021 we (the U.S. CDC) will be spending $1,000,000,000 for vaccine confidence activities, to:
1. Strengthen vaccine confidence.
2. Provide further information and education with respect to vaccines.
3. Improve rates of vaccination throughout the US.

Yeah, I know one of those.

Sounds like a great investment, just like the 10 mil from one of our “relief stimulus” that went to Pakistan for a gender studies program

Agree, but when will the vaccine be ready ???

I mean, how hard can it be to make an injection for injection-molded kits ???

I just had a relative tell me Covid was created by radical Islamists and spread through western countries, in order to MAKE us wear masks so our women will be prepared to wear burkas when they overthrow the Western democracies. You can not make this s$&t up!

It's always amusing to hear these nut job theories.  People that believe this stuff should not have kids....just quietly let their genes die out naturally for the good of the species.

My wife had the vaccine a few weeks ago because of the place where she works and she is very fine thank you. I hope to get mine between summer and September,  if Canada gets the quantities they paid for in due time. We'll see. And I really hope they won't keep going with that new attempt at only giving a single shot instead of 2 shots.... It's a vaccine that was bought and then approved by Health Canada because it takes 2 shots to reach 99% coverage (I heard 95%, and less, but the manufacturer's advertising line was 99% with 2 shots). So I sure hope they will stick to their original promesse because leaving people only with 1 shot and something like a 65% protection or so is totally unacceptable. This is the politicians trying to look good and say we vaccinated more people but playing apprentice sorcerers with the population's health to up their popularity chart. I will certainly make it clear to them in no uncertain terms that I want a 2nd shot after getting the 1st one. I know the other reason  why they are also doing it; they "think" they will save more people in the short term.  But they are not doctors or immunologists. If they play that game there will be a lot of poorly protected people running around without masks thinking they are now fine to stop social distancing and all other precautions, but a 65% protection is not a 99% protection.

So the Canadian gov't must stick to the original plan and use the product the proper way. Otherwise they are throwing billions we paid for this out the window.

I know that 65% is better than nothing. But how long do we want to have additional lock downs because of a single shot instead of the proper 2 shots vaccine ?

Lol !  Damn right.

Meanwhile, here in Oz, some Muppet doctor gave two oldies in a nursing home four times the required vaccine dose.

The result - nada, nothing, zippo, zero.  Geez that vaccine is nasty!

I have fully confidence all these vaccines will act as advertised.  We are lucky this virus was not a big killer like the 1918 pandemic.

I'd be happy if the vaccine just kept me from serious illness and death.  Anything beyond that is a bonus in my eyes, so even the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is looking very acceptable in my books.

As for mask wearing, I am pleased not to have a cold for over 1 year instead of a cold every 6 weeks, so mask wearing will probably be something I will continue for a very long time.

Had the flu vaccine for the first time ever last year (required to visit wife's Aunt in the nursing home) & not a sniffle since.

Without the continued intervention and modern medicine Covid 19 could have been far worse than the 1918 pandemic.

I haven't been able to get my shot yet but as soon as I'm able I will. I hope to get my notice in a month or so that I'm able to go get one. I was glad to see the J&J vaccine approved in the states this week.

I just read through most of this thread. Lost a few brain cells but I don't use them much anymore anyway. :gr_eek2:

The old lady and I have our vaccine shots scheduled at the clinic we go to, not until April though. Thing is, they only do Covid Vaccine shots twice a week. Lack of staff or some such. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Seems that if the government is devoting so much energy and money to the vaccine rollout, you would think they could get help to clinics to expedite the whole thing.

Oh well, it is what it is.  Just have to hang in there for a while longer. Frankly, I have been very leery about going out into public spaces the last few months (I'm high risk). Was going to the grocery stores once in a while, but stopped that and only get food delivered. It has restricted what we can get as not everything the stores sell is always available. But, we manage. Once I've been immunized, I think I will feel a bit bolder about going out.

Anyway, fun to read about the conspiracy theories. Folk are strange and we live in interesting times.

Now I have to take my evening dose of nanobots and then watch Star Trek repeats for the 34,000th time (the nanobots seem to help with my tolerance for watching reruns over and over again).

Cheers!

Based on what I’m seeing in Texas it looks like the “last mile” distribution (getting your injection) is being done by county governments and hospitals. I think the allocation of vaccine to the counties is done at the state level. In other words, the federal government is paying for the vaccine, but the burden of distribution has been delegated to the state level and below. This is just my observation, I have no official insight.

This how it is done in Canada...Federal government gets the vaccines and gives it out to each province in quantities relative to the population in each province.  In my province of British Columbia....we have the province divided into 5 different "Health Authorities" (regions) and each one helps to distribute the vaccines.  Old age care homes and native people are first priority.  We are focusing on giving everyone their first dose....then 4 months later they will give everyone their second dose.

Speaking of Texas, it’ll be interesting to see how things play out in 4-6 weeks with all the restrictions lifted.

Wife got her two stage back in January.  Hospital employee.  I'm eligible next week.  Hoping for the new single dose by J&J since I'm also doing spinal steroid injections and cannot do both within a 2-3 week period.

I'm not a big believer in trying something that came out this soon, but I'm a little more untrusting of catching the COVID.  Daughter had it, mild fever for a day or two and 4 days of discomfort and no big deal.  Teacher at the school across the street got it and died a week later.

I'll take my chances of becoming a zombie.
