Anybody done clear sprue goo on clear parts?

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about how I want to do the windows on my Revell SpaceShip 2 and I noticed on the actual vehicle they are very flush and smooth the fuselage.  I was thinking of gluing them in, but filling the gaps between the windows and fuselage with something clear that I could then sand and polish up.  I did some tests on CA, but it had a tendency to fog, and I know epoxy is an option too, but has anyone tried clear sprue goo?

TIA!

Don't.  Plastic cement will cloud the clear plastic - it will not dry "clear".  Your best bet is thick superglue that you let cure without accelerator.  Wipe away the fogging.  Alternatively, if the clear parts are flat, replace with clear plastic sheet.  If it's polystyrene or acrylic (PMMA), you can polish it up to complete clarity.

Thanks for that - I'm leaning toward a casting epoxy now since I was going to use it for a different project too.  No sprue goo for me!
