Tamiya 1/48 F-16C Block 52 Swamp Fox Jet FINISHED

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just finished this after about 6 years away from the hobby.  It's Tamiya's excellent 1/48 F-16C with the following aftermarket sets:

Decals: Speed Hunter Graphic’s SEAD specialists part I sheet, also used homemade masks made with my Silhouette printer for the tail markings and Fox head logo.
Cockpit: Avionix cockpit set with Wolfpack’s ejection seat
Weapons: Hasegawa’s weapons set E for the HTM pod and Sniper pylon, Eduard for the Sniper pod, AIM-120's, and HARM Missile
Wheel bays: Aires
Exhaust: Aries
Nose: Royal Resin
Master static dischargers and pitot tube sets
Eduard's PE set for the Tamiya F-16 and their undercarriage set

In-progress photos are at the below  page:

Gunze and Alclad lacquers were used for painting, weathering was with artist oils and Tamiya's weathering washes.  Overall, the project took 8 months since I'm a slow builder.  Hope you enjoy!

Absolutely fantastic in every way.  Perfect attention to detail.  Perfect paint work.  Perfect ordnance.  I'm so excited to see a HARM that isn't painted white.

Outstanding work!!

Hello, I just came across this incredible build. How did you simulate the “sheep skin” covering on the ACES II seat?

Thanks!  I got the seat from Wolfpack since they come with the "sheep skin" covering.  I think they are out of production now, but I was able to snag a set from Lucky Model.

Amazing job on this one!

Question: what is wrong with Tamiya radome? I see people keep using aftermarket noses but I am unable to see the difference. I noticed that KASL even offer two versions with long and short conductors.

Thanks Dan!  I think the reason companies offer replacements for the Tamiya radome is that the Tamiya part is composed of two halves.  There is a raised line (static discharger I think) that runs along this joint that can be lost or distorted when the two halves are joined.  The resin replacements are a single piece that eliminates this problem.
