Quinta 1/48 F/A-18F Cockpit - Does it work for standard -F boxing?

Recommended Posts

I'm interested in using this set for the cockpit of the Hasegawa F/A-18F, planned to be a straight F for VFA-103.  The set is labelled as for "Late F and EA-18G", but then says for "Hasegawa EA-18G only".  The only differences from the EA-18G and F/A-18F I can see in the cockpit is the read instrument panel, but these pieces appear very similar.

Is this Quinta basically saying it's for Hasegawa kits, or is it truly only for the EA-18G boxing?  Unfortunately they don't seem to have a website or contact that I could contact directly.

AFAIK, the only boxings of Hasegawa Super Hornets that have the ACS aft crew station are the Growlers. There are two IP panels, the one with huge display, and the one with large display. Generally, if You want a "late" F, the Growler is the easiest way. There's also the Metallic Detail aft IP with cover.

The Huge display is on sprue S, the Large is on V, the regular is on F.

Here's the Quinta product. It clearly shows the ACS IP coaming. The detail is also for the bigger display.

I seem to recall the VFA-103 had only the ACS "ready" aft IP on their first cruise, with smaller center display and got upgraded sometime later.

Thank you!  I'm hoping the maybe do an early set later.  I don't know that I want to get a new kit just for the instrument panels when I don't care too which block I'm building.

You could get just the aft IP, don't know how it's available in the States.

It should also be easy to add the Quinta decals, since the panel is separate from the coaming.

The only thing You'd be missing would be the nose wheel door hexagonal antena.
