Dog1 Posted March 31, 2021 Share Posted March 31, 2021 what is the point of polishing a racing car if its had 2-3 coats of gloss clear applied ? will it protect the gloss coat over time ? the paint tint ? we are not worried about mosquitoes so what are the esthetical and other advantages to polishing ? ElectroSoldier Posted March 31, 2021 Share Posted March 31, 2021 (edited) When the atomised paint drops hit the surface the balls of paint mushroom down and the coverage isnt "100%" flat. When you polish it you are making it more flat. No flat as in without a shine but flat without variation in the surface. When its more flat there is less wind resistance.
