jonwinn
I decided to finish this kit so I grabbed it off the "shelf of doom". I had gotten the slats cut and glued together and added back on to the wing. I saw this done at a site a few years back and decided to give it a try. If it works out as good as I want I will also do it to my 1/72 Italeri F-100F which I plan to do as a "Misty FAC". jon Edited June 24, 2021 by jonwinn
jonwinn
I cut the slats off the top and bottom wings then glued them together. I Then added some card stoick, not sure if it was .015 or .020 thick, to shim up the void left from cutting the largest portion out. jon
jonwinn
I had to scrape some thickness off the card stock filler near the outer edge of the wing where it tapered in. jon
jonwinn
The cockpit is assembled and painted. I also ordered Caracal decals CD72071 for F100 in Vietnam. It has decals for the F-100D and F-100F so I now have decals for my future F-100F Misty FAC also. jon
Cubs2jets
Love your work with the slats. The 1/72 cockpit OOB is, well, interesting. LOL!
jonwinn
Thanks, the cockpit is not the focal point of my build, sorry. I built this kit a few years ago and when the canopy is on there's not much to see. The best part of this kit is the correct sized drop tanks, ESCI gives you 335 gallon and not 275 gallon tanks. I now have the cockpit installed and wings on. jon Edited June 26, 2021 by jonwinn

SERNAK
This is one of those kits that you don't have to do a lot. Accurate with beautifully engraved panel lines and very nice details. Looking forward to see it finished !!!

Thadeus
Looking good. The lowered slats really add to the model. I remember doing something similar a while back. Esci kit is a pleasure to build.
