You could get an updated 3D figure, but it would look more like 1/32 than 1/48.

The Shizuoka Hobby Show starts tomorrow. We’ll find out soon what Tamiya has in store for us, at least in the near term.

How tight lipped are Tamiya in regards to these things? Do they spring a surprise that was previously unmentioned? 
As was accurately explained in my thread on their paint line, Tamiya is a successful company and beats to their own drum. While a follow-on Phantom to the successful B-model makes sense to us, they obviously dont share the same feelings just yet.

I think they’re still waiting for a 3-D scan of @Gene K so they can include the figure with the decals for “Sandy.” 😉

It does not look like Tamiya is going to release Air Force version of Phantom. If it was going to release it, it would have in last 3 years. 

 

Is there a chance of someone producing aftermarket kit to modify Tamiya's F-4B into F-4C/D?

F-35C on the way as the next release id suggest anyone waiting for an F-4C in 48th should join the queue waiting for a 2seater F-16 or late F-4E in 32nd.

Maybe "due course" for the Tamiya F-4C/D will be the same time as for the ZM Recce Birds. That would be a bonanza!!

Last year a Tamiya rep told me to wait 2-3 years for the next Phantom release. No details given of course and it did sound a bit vague. But he seemed to be genuine senior Tamiya staff, rather than the young hire staff manning the show booth…and he seemed to understand my lack of interest in the F-35 series and that I’m waiting for the F-4C.

I expect Tamiya will do the F-35C in 1:72 next and then we may finally get the F-4C/D. Maybe.
