And then it was sunday and time to realease another update.

Details, everywhere!!!

I´ll use the day to right wrongs and create new ones.....

However I started with cleaning the windscreen. Nice , eh?

IMG_6073.JPG

IMG_6074.JPG

On to the messy dielectric panel on the spine.

IMG_6075.JPG

The good thing with painting laquer on top an acrylic varnish is that you simply take a swab, dip it in turpentine and just rub away the offending color. Do varnish you kit when you are happy with something you´ve added it might save your bacon later on!

IMG_6076.JPG

Mask, paint, unmask ...done!

IMG_6077.JPG

IMG_6078.JPG

Then I glued the windshield in place with some white glue.

IMG_6079.JPG

Added the small red antenna behaind the cockpit....

IMG_6080.JPG

And a position light, there is one more antenna that goes on the spine but it's so thin I don't want to risk it yet...I´ll save it for final touches, same with the alfa- probe and temperature probe.

IMG_6081.JPG

NOw it´s time for belly rubbing...added the airbrakes, remember these are bolted shut on the JA but not on the AJ!

IMG_6082.JPG

Forward and rear IFF antennas. they are not a drop fit so do dry fit and sand until the drop into place.

IMG_6084.JPG

IMG_6083.JPG

Added some grime on the landingbay doors as to blend them in with the rest of the fuselage.

IMG_6085.JPG

Then I glued in the nose wheelbay door actuators.

IMG_6086.JPG

On with the little  supports for the air inlets... they do need a little  fiddling before they fit.

IMG_6087.JPG

Hmm I miss a support that goes on the underside....

IMG_6088.JPG

Out with the plasticard and make a new one.

IMG_6089.JPG

And glue them into place.

IMG_6090.JPG

And when it was time to paint the insides of the remaining  wheel well doors I managed to break a door!

A long stream of profanities exited my mouth....

IMG_6091.JPG

Then I repaired it.......

IMG_6092.JPG

I don't want to end on an angry note so I finish todays session with a sweet pic.

IMG_6093.JPG

Cheers!

The Friday update is here!

Even more small stuff!

Yes there are a lot of small stuff ....even though without my contributions of dodo's.

I´ll start at the dodo end of things and puttied up the door I broke.

IMG_6094.JPG

I only filled it on the outside I thought I'd get away with that.

So I went on and painted the inside of the doors in aluminium.

IMG_6098.JPG

Then a wash of Citadel nulnoil.

IMG_6099.JPG

Then I flat coated the heck of it as the aluminium almost looks gray.

IMG_6101.JPG

I put aside the doors for now and continued with adding the "frog eyes" to the rear radar sensor. A sensor without the eyes but the same shape is only found on AJS modded machines, all JA's have the eyes.

I just punched out 2mm circles from plasticard.

IMG_6095.JPG

And painted the sensor flat black.

IMG_6105.JPG

Next paint job was the hinges on the flaps. This will cost me points with the judges however since the hinges don´t match up to the notches....it was a price I had to pay in my battles with the wings.

IMG_6100.JPG

I moved on to the boarding ladder, cleaned it and primed it in Alclad white primer/microfiller.

IMG_6102.JPG

Then I painted it pink!

IMG_6103.JPG

LoL the pink makes the yellow richer so I always start with pink before I put down yellow.

Eventually there will be black stripes as well but that´s for later.

IMG_6104.JPG

End of part 1

Part2

Painted the mirrors....

IMG_6106.JPG

Then I brought fourth THE DREMEL! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I will start with cutting off the canopy from the block!

IMG_6107.JPG

Not so dramatic really.....but it´s a thing, I always laugh manically when I dremel!

IMG_6108.JPG

Then I carefully used the cutting disc and cleaned the edge of the canopy.

IMG_6110.JPG

I used a file for the last bit  and it doesn't look too shabby :D

IMG_6111.JPG

I had to dry fit the cabbot inside... and see what it looks like on the model...

IMG_6112.JPG

IMG_6114.JPG

IMG_6115.JPG

Looks fine....so I masked the canopy.

IMG_6116.JPG

Glued the cabbot in place

IMG_6117.JPG

And painted the frame.

IMG_6118.JPG

Unmasked it....

IMG_6120.JPG

Then I painted the inside flat black.

IMG_6121.JPG

And I let it rest over the cockpit for now.

IMG_6122.JPG

Now back to where I started todays session....the wheel bay door.

I sanded it smooth.

IMG_6123.JPG

Primed  with Alclad Gray Primer/microfiller and preshaded a bit.

IMG_6124.JPG

Painted it in the belly color and put down a clear coat before I add decals...but that´s for another day!

IMG_6126(1).JPG

Cheers!

Already Sunday...well here is the update.

There is a RAT in da house!

The good work continues...

I put on the last decals...

IMG_6127.JPG

Noticed that the canopy ram rod I found was for the closed position.....the open position...

IMG_6128.JPG

It's somewhere around there......

IMG_6129.JPG

So I glued on a bit

IMG_6130.JPG

Next is the wing tip position lights....bleeding small things...

IMG_6131.JPG

Had to carve out a notch at the tip.

IMG_6132.JPG

And glued them into place....will have to sand a bit to make them flush.

IMG_6133.JPG

IMG_6134.JPG

Then we have these small lights that goes to the end of  flaps actuator housings, could use a few more, there are a couple at each side of the exhaust too.

IMG_6135.JPG

Part 2

Broke off the pitot tube too :P

IMG_6136.JPG

I use a toothpick with  a bit of tac-it at the end to move around those tiny lights.

IMG_6137.JPG

Got them into place at least.

IMG_6138.JPG

IMG_6139.JPG

Back to the wingtip lights.

Sanded them a bit.

IMG_6140.JPG

Then I painted the light colours ...blue on the right and red on the left...

IMG_6141.JPG

IMG_6142.JPG

painted silver at the rear end

IMG_6143.JPG

and a dab of thick CA glue as a lens.

Part 3

Now for the wheelbay doors... flat coated and ready to be glued into place.

IMG_6146.JPG

First the nose gear doors....

IMG_6147.JPG

Then the main gear doors.

IMG_6148.JPG

IMG_6149.JPG

Now for the RAT.... cut the parts free of the printblock.

IMG_6150.JPG

Painted the outside and inside of the RAT housing door.

IMG_6151.JPG

IMG_6152.JPG

And the generator in black...I managed to break a propeller blade but it was easy to glue back into place.

IMG_6153.JPG

Glueed the generator into the door....

IMG_6154.JPG

Then a wash and a flat coat.

IMG_6155.JPG

Glued the canopy opening ram into place...I will shorten the ram rod a bit, no worries

IMG_6156.JPG

And the RAT is glued in place.

IMG_6157.JPG

And that´s it for this session :D

IMG_6158.JPG

Time for the Friday update!

More small stuff...

Well models doesn't build themself you know, so on to the building!

Today's first action was to drill a small hole on the port side close to the nosegear.

IMG_6184.JPG

And it's for this little thing that pretty much every model are built without.

IMG_6185.JPG

It is what it looks like, a small pitottube wich function escapes me at the moment but I bet I will be told soon

IMG_6186.JPG

Next it's time to detail the inside of the canopy. Did a little painting and drybrushing first.

IMG_6187.JPG

Then a little green wire was added...its other end will be attached at the ejection seat.

IMG_6189.JPG

Then I made this little thingy that goes into the top rear of the frame....I have no clue what it is. The cable will be gray and the contact black.

IMG_6190.JPG

And this thingy, I will cut it to shape but it's a box that fits inside the rear frame with a thick white cable running from it.

IMG_6191.JPG

The pieces painted and glued into place.

IMG_6192.JPG

IMG_6193.JPG

Then I handpainted the ladder....no worries it'll be worn

Part 2

Then it was time for the Eduard goodies.... I'll use the Sparrow as a Skyflash, as they are pretty much indistinguishable from each other.

The Sidewinders are as is...

IMG_6196.JPG

IMG_6197.JPG

First I added the fins.

IMG_6198.JPG

Then I had to clean the Jetmads launchers.

IMG_6199.JPG

First with THE DREMEL, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

IMG_6200.JPG

And then the scraper to get rid of the printlines!

IMG_6201.JPG

Done

IMG_6202.JPG

I ended today's session with impailing the launchers and missiles.... ready for primer

That's an awesome build my friend!

Do you will paint the ordnance, live weapons or the mock up green ones?

Gianni:cheers:

Thanks Gianni 😄

I always put live ordnance on my builds...it's a thing I have 😛

Aha...Now I know what that little pitot tube is for, it is for determining when groundspeed is high enough to allow steering by rudder instead of the nose wheel.

It automaticly change between wheel steering and rudder steering 🙂

Wow, Sunday AGAIN?! Time flies...

Weponisation

Today I continued with the weapons...

First I primed all in alclad flat black primer/microfiller.

IMG_6219.JPG

IMG_6220.JPG

THen I used white primer on top of that for everything that will be painted gloss white.

IMG_6221.JPG

Then on with the gloss white....hmm doesn't show that well but they are painted :P

IMG_6222.JPG

On to the Sidewinders, I put down gloss black on the forward section.

IMG_6223.JPG

And painted it in Alclad steel.

IMG_6224.JPG

Next I masked the border between the metal and the rest of the missile body.

IMG_6225.JPG

I painted the body in FS36375 light ghost gray

IMG_6226.JPG

Then I brush painted the band and tip in aluminium.

IMG_6227.JPG

I used my chrome pensil and decanted some paint and brush painted the small bands and the very tip of the 'winder

IMG_6228.JPG

I finished the painting on the 'winders with Citadel Ironhand steel on the rollerons.

IMG_6229.JPG

Back to the skyflashes, I masked off the tip.

IMG_6230.JPG

THen painted the tips in FS36622, a very light gray, almost off white.

IMG_6231.JPG

I finished the session with gloss varnish over all.... next the decals!

IMG_6232.JPG

Cheers!

A Bonus!!!

The Loadout

All about the ordnance today. I begin with all the pesky decals.....tho the Eduard decals are really  nice for decals.

IMG_6233.JPG

Oh, but first the seeker heads for the 'winders before I forget them again.

IMG_6234.JPG

Looks really nice in place.

IMG_6235.JPG

Yeah, the decals.....they are finally on, there was like a gazillion of them but I sort of forgot the smallest.....

IMG_6236.JPG

And next the Skyflash...I may have put  a "AIM-7 Sparrow" mariking on them but I dare the model judge to spot it :P

IMG_6238.JPG

After the decals were on I sealed them with another coat of gloss varnish and then I set out to dirty them up a bit.

IMG_6239.JPG

IMG_6240.JPG

After the wash had dried I wiped it off....don't want them too dirty I just want the details to pop a bit.

IMG_6241.JPG

IMG_6242.JPG

Unfortunately I didn't get launchers with the Eduard missiles so I have to use the Jetmads launchers...and they don't match the Eduard missiles.

IMG_6243.JPG

I had to do a bit of "crafting" with the Dremel both on the launchers and on the missiles.

IMG_6244.JPG

IMG_6245.JPG

To make the missiles grip the launchers I drilled holes in the missiles and launchers and glued piano wire in them

IMG_6246.JPG

With that the 'winders are done...

IMG_6247.JPG

I did the same thing on the Skyflashes...

IMG_6248.JPG

So here is the Viggen cold war fighter loadout.. 4x AIM-9M Sidewinder (Rb74) and 2x Skyflash (Rb71), a drop tank and that wicked 30mm KCA gun

IMG_6249.JPG

Cheers!
