USAFsparkchaser
What are the mk-82 that have the parachute called that the f-111 carried. Also does anyone do them in 1/48?
Dave Williams
Mk82 with BSU-49 tail assembly. Usually called Mk82 AIR (Air Inflatable Retarder).

OzMods lists them for sale, but I would recommend an email to check inventory: http://www.ozmods-kits.com/scaledown-conversions-upgrades-
Stefan buysse
Hi, They were also called "Ballute" (balloon parachute), I believe. PP Aeroparts from the UK did a set in late 1980's. Package of two, resin body with PE parts to detail the rear end. I never bought a set, seemed frightfully expensive for just two back in the day. DJ Parkins of the Flightpath range took over most of the PP Aeroparts range when they stopped, but I've never seen the Ballutes in the Flightpath range. Cheers, Stefan. ElectroSoldier
BSU-49/B Air Inflatable Retarder (AIR) Scaledown does them with a BRU-3/A and CMK makes them in packs of 2 bombs in both 72 and 48 scales. For an F-111 I would go with the Scaledown set as you will need a BRU-3/A to carry them anyway.
RedHeadKevin
I'd love to know why the BSU-49s were never injection molded. They're a REALLY common bomb from the 80's/90's, and I don't think anyone ever produced them in styrene. Edited October 16, 2021 by RedHeadKevin
