A Look at the Sprue Trees of ICM's 32061 AH-1G Cobra (late production)

Inside we find these sprues which were in the AH-1G Early box.

 

This is the new sprue tree for the M35 20mm gun system:

 

A new decal sheet with, for me the most important reason I bought the kit, two shark mouth schemes:

1. The Gladiator

2. #1 Du Me Mi

Once you have seen the sprue trees, instructions, and decals from this kit... you have seen this one as well:

 

Other than a new box top art, the sprue trees, and instruction sheet from 32114 (ICM's US Helicopter Pilots (Vietnam War)) nothing else was added.  I hoped for a new decal sheet since the cover painting seems to show a sharkmouth scheme with two sets of eyes.  I also hoped for some decals for the crew uniforms.

The single Navy example provided in the kit is for a USN Test Pilot School aircraft from 1974.  The other 3 kit options are USMC.

 

The SH boxings are the ones to get as they have a bunch of resin, PE, and canopy masks, and they seem to be about the same price as the original ICM boxings, if not cheaper.  However, both of the SH boxings are of the “early” ICM kit boxing, and so lack the M35 20mm cannon sprue.  Note that getting the CMK M35 isn’t a complete solution, because the CMK set doesn’t include the large ammo cheeks.  Those are on the M35 specific sprue that’s only in the “late” ICM boxing.
