L4824 still not available in US? European stores started to stock it just days before Christmas, only 6 months after release 😄

No, I still don’t see any L4824 Su-27 kits available from any US stores. And, many, if not most, GWH kits are out of stock in many US model stores.  I’m guessing that we are still not getting shipments from China in the container ships offloaded in Los Angeles.

The GWH 4824 is the model that I want the most, and I can’t get one!!  It is really aggravating!

Wow ... but anyway; I want a J-16 and a J-16D! Even if I'm aware that they are structurally vastly different alone due to the lack of canards.

You should be able to convert a regular SU-27UB for making these.

Anything is possible but there a lot of differences between J-16 and vanilla Su-27UB. Refueling probe, off centered IRS, WS-10, plethora of antennas, landing gear etc.. J-16D doesn't have IRST or gun and has all those pods.. Cockpits are also different.

Not everyone likes spending double the price of kit on aftermarkets or even feels good enough to butcher up kit for some conversions.

I'd also like to see J-16/D especially because of different armament.

Regarding J-16, it has both features from Su-27UB and Su-30MKK, with some original features such as Chinese weapon/pylons.

So it will need over 70% new tools from modelling perspetive, including the most expensive upper and lower fuselage/wing parts, etc.

Is it worth the investment considering the market wallet from popularity?

In my view it is quite doubtful, especially if the price is much more expensive than the Trumpter/Hobbyboss kit which is very inaccurate from shape to details though.

But afterall, how many buyers will care? Many of them will say "at least it does not look like a F-15 to me", conversation over.

J-16D will be another story:

The overall aerodynamic shape is same as J-16, but many details are different especially the nose cone dividing line is further forward compared with J-16(like Su-35 vs Su-27).

That means you need another new mold for upper and lower fuselage, which is the most expensitve part of the investment.

And again, the market demand will be the question mark...

Talking abour MKI, yes I have considered this version when deciding part break down.

MKI could be easily made by additional several parts such as HUD, main control panels, warning devices(already in the sprue if you check carefully) etc.

And also remove some antennas blabla.

It will be released as a seperate product in near future, as far as I heard.

Market probably is small outside China but Chinese market can be large enough... Great Wall Hobby should have sales numbers for PLAAF Su-35 boxing in China. That will give some clue. Personally I would definitely buy one from both especially J-16D.
