vvwse4
Hi, I am looking for info for info on this plane. I have been asked to help building a MK IX C for a local museum which crashed on april 18th 1945 in Gennep, the place I live. I was a plane from # 1 Squadron with the serial NH356 flown by WO Vickery, he came out ok. I know that the squadron code was JX but I do not know the the plane's letter. The plane was left there until after the war, when the civilian population got back from beiing evacuated I know that local farmers got the last fuel out of the tanks to let their machines run. Are there pictures from this particular airplane? I was damaged when making a ground attack and it's oil line was severed so the engine quit so it made a bellylanding with a cut engine. Does that means the prop wasn't turning when he bellied in or was the prop windmilling? Did those Spitfires had a metal or wooden propellor? I have been looking on the net but so far no luck. Hope some people here know some answers, thanks in advance!! Rick

Dafixer
I don't know anything about Spitfires but the folks over on Britmodeller (being British) seem to have a wealth of knowledge on the Spit.
