The correct colour is actually a Douglas one, No.3536 - as most KC-10 heavy maintenance was done by McDD, their standard airliner grey was applied from the outset as a means of reducing costs. There was no direct FS equivalent - but FS16515 is regarded to be a close match. Various quotes of FS16473 for both original and 'Shamu' camouflage scheme undersides mainly originate from Dana Bell's 'USAF Colors & Markings in the 1990s' - however, he later acknowledged making an error in assuming that particular colour was what was being referred to during his research...
