As the thread title says, I'm looking for the correct grey to use on a KC-10 with the white over grey scheme. Thanks!

The correct colour is actually a Douglas one, No.3536 - as most KC-10 heavy maintenance was done by McDD, their standard airliner grey was applied from the outset as a means of reducing costs. There was no direct FS equivalent - but FS16515 is regarded to be a close match.

Various quotes of FS16473 for both original and 'Shamu' camouflage scheme undersides mainly originate from Dana Bell's 'USAF Colors & Markings in the 1990s' - however, he later acknowledged making an error in assuming that particular colour was what was being referred to during his research...

So the McDD color applies to the Shamu undersides also?

Thanks

Chris
