1990s USMC Herc Colors

Recommended Posts

Had a question about the tactical scheme USMC Hercs wore in the 1990s:

Per the official 2161 guide, the colors (from top to bottom) are FS35237, FS36320 and FS36495.  What color are the markings (Nat'l Insignia, call numbers, etc)?  That 2161 lists black for some items and full color blue/red/white nat'l insignia.  Are the markings FS35237, or something else?

Thanks in advance!

I was referring to the 1993-dated 2161B.  It shows the low-viz scheme, but in the details, it lists the full-color scheme colors for the Nat'l Insignia, call numbers, etc.  Wasn't sure if the same colors from the 2000s 2161s were the same used in the early/mid-1990s for the markings.  The later 2161s I have do show FS35237 for the markings, I just wasn't sure if that was correct for the 1990s, or if a different gray was used.

Thanks

The 1993 2161A introduced the TPS but retained hi-viz markings (Fig. C-12, pages 115-116), which is what I thought you may have been referring to:

The 'full' low-viz TPS then appeared in the 2008 2161B (Fig C-12, pages 102-103) as shown in my first post - perhaps you're simply looking at the subsequent markings details for the white and grey hi-viz scheme (Fig C-13, pages 104-105) instead?

The TPS grays used remained the same throughout, including in the 2014 2161C...
