Cloud in the Wind
Good day fellow small scale builders. I picked up the Trumpeter F-22 on a whim the other day and decided to push it ahead of other projects - thinking that it would be a quick build. Unfortunately, I think I'm seeing that there will be a few challenging aspects to the build. Namely, the kit comes with the clear canopy already secured to the top of the airframe. I am concerned that when I glue the fuselage halves using Tamiya's liquid cement or CA glue that I will fog the interior of the clear part. 🥶 I could seal the inside and outside of the clear part with liquid mask, but then how do I get it off the inside? Then, secondly, I am curious about achieving the colored affect of the glass canopy. Can anyone point me to a good tutorial? I got a bit overwhelmed with the google/youtube search results and I'd like to know what works looks best in this small scale before sinking $50 in supplies for this one build. 😝 Maybe I'm being led down to removing the canopy. So, then I have to ask in anyone knows how Trumpeter secured it? Should I use hot water to dissolve their glue? Or do I need to saw it off? Yikes.
Model-Junkie
A quick search on Google led me back to ARC, this gent removed the canopy by carefully cutting it out:
