1/35 MH-60T Kitty Hawk + Werner's Wings conversion (works in progress)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I moved this into a separate topic from the discussion what is needed for the conversion of KH kits to HH-60J. I haven't seen yet anywhere build relations so  appreciate tips to avoid mistakes and it may be of use to others.

It seems that the best kit to convert into HH-60J/MH-60T is KH50010  HH-60H 'Rescue Hawk' and of course conversion made by Floyd plus his decals are needed.  The kit contains frames from other KH H-60 kits so we have appropriate exhaust, tail and wing extension. I will use dedicated USCG cellulose paints made by Bilmodel. I want to make yellow MH-60T, I did one in 1/72 few years ago and I like it much so time to make something bigger.

But I had to order new yellow as all was used to other 1/72 models.

Here in 1/72 model. Big one is coming...

As the interior is missing some MH-60T elements I added some stuff. I think about the basket...

For the moment no major issues spotted. The flor is curved, the fuselage also doesn't look well but when I tried with the interior looks much better.

I'd like to make a basket - I am collecting paper clips and have to look for my soldering iron... long time since I use it 😜

Slow progress with the model -  I made a container located behind the pilot's seat and the first fittings for resin conversion - the wheel support element. Looks great! I also work on the fuselage - as you can see fitting of some elements is not perfect - filling the gaps with the thin CA glue did the job without need to sand delicate surfaces at the outside.

I soldered one up when I did a scratch/conversion back in '08.  It was a PITA, but doable.

Here is my take on an MH-60J back then:  https://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/16/t/103483.aspx

Now I have the KH HH-60H, WW set, and above mentioned printed basket (which is very nice) to build the yellow MH-60T.  I'll get to it soon.

  • 1 month later...

Hi, slowly but I dis some progress 🙂

So yes, wasn't easy but finally I made the basket using jewellery wires.

Meanwhile I started to work on the engines and transmission cover. But again... I have to wait for the  non-slip surface paint but now I can close the model.
