ESzczesniak
I don't use these sponges often, but they do work rather well sometimes for removing washes. I'm pretty sure these are some type of make up sponge. However, when I look through amazon, I'm seeing some "condensed makeup removing sponges", "blending sponges", etc. Anyone have any idea the best thing to search for to find an easy replacement? dogsbody
My youngest daughter is a make-up specialist at a local drugstore that is part of a national chain. Anything in her boutique that may be even slightly useful to kit building I have already looked at. I then get her to buy it and she uses her employee discount to get it cheaper. Gentlemen, always peruse through the make-up section of any store that has that kind of material. There is a lot of useful stuff there. Chris
John Tapsell
Nail files, emery boards and glass (aka crystal) files all have modelling uses. If you're not familiar with glass files, they are generally much harder wearing than emery/flexi-type files. I think Meng offer such a file for modellers but the beauty aisles in shops (or online) offer similar stuff at the same or cheaper prices. The more you look at many of the tools and gadgets we use, the more you realise that many of them are thinly disguised products from other walks of life. That's not a criticism, just an observation. HOLMES
I'm with Chris and John.. loads of things like tiny sponges that women use for eye shadow application on a black sticj holder etc are amazing... different kinds or emery boards, tweezers etc. Amazing what you can buy in the womens beauty section . and it is inexpensive! I have found nearly the whole range of Ammo sponges at my local super stores (Meijer, Kroger, Walmart here in Ohio).

dogsbody
My latest purchase from my daughter's boutique is the set of small foam makeup applicators. They work great for applying pastels for weathering. The dozen that were in the packet only cost a few dollars. Chris Edited May 15, 2022 by dogsbody
