Skinny_Mike
Hi Everyone! Does anyone know if there are any companies out there that make custom decals. I have tried my hand at home made decals and so far it has been less then a stellar showing. Thanks for the help Mike
Rob de Bie
I do custom decal projects from time to time. Recently I created this webpage explaining the process: https://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/customdecals.htm Hope that helps. pookie
There are several companies in the USA that can print your artwork on decal film. The issue is doing the vector artwork. Do you know how to draw in vector or would you also need that part done for you?
John Tapsell
There are also a number of small operations who will print your artwork via an ALPS/OKI printer and they can generally work with raster artwork.

As an owner of an Alps (with a failed print head of course) I would say that it does not like raster artwork! I would expect a rather horrible result. At the very least you wouldn't use the capabilities of the printer. It can print amazingly sharp and good-looking decals. John Tapsell
Rob - the last three sets of decals I've commissioned were designed in a raster format because it's what I'm used to working with (keep meaning to train myself up on vector graphics but life's too busy at the moment - like I keep meaning to explore CAD). I supplied the artwork camera-ready on a transparent background and I'm very happy with the results. I agree that the vector route is much better but other options remain viable, depending on the nature of the artwork you are dealing with.
Rob de Bie
Interesting! I have heard only very little about raster/bitmap artwork for printing on an Alps. Do you use the prescribed colour values listed below to make the printer use 'pure' colours that print without a raster? I copied them from my Design your own Alps / OKI custom decals webpage. Spot Color RGB (n/255) RGB (n/100%) CMYK (n/100%) Yellow 255, 255, 0 100, 100, 0 0, 0, 100, 0 Magenta 255, 0, 255 100, 0, 100 0, 100, 0, 0 Cyan 0, 255, 255 0, 100, 100 100, 0, 0, 0 Red 255, 0, 0 100, 0, 0 0, 100, 100, 0 Green 0, 255, 0 0, 100, 0 100, 0, 100, 0 Blue 0, 0, 255 0, 0, 100 100, 100, 0, 0 Black 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0, 100 Metallic Gold 225, 160, 0 88, 63, 0 12, 37, 100, 0 Metallic Silver 189, 193, 197 74, 76, 77 26, 24, 23, 0 Metallic Magenta 163, 36, 115 64, 14, 45 36, 86, 55, 0 Metallic Cyan 0, 176, 201 0, 69, 79 100, 31, 21, 0 White 230, 230, 230 90, 90, 90 10, 10, 10, 0 Gold Foil 225, 160, 0 88, 63, 0 12, 37, 100, 0 Silver Foil 189, 193, 197 74, 76, 77 26, 24, 23,
