Putty/filler for fiberglass

Recommended Posts

Planning for my HpH 1/48 B-52H kit and the major parts are fiberglass. Can anyone suggest a putty/filler to use that's available in USA? I normally use the red Bondo stuff for plastics but I don't think it will work. Must be fine enough to rescribe panel lines. Thank you!!!

Gap filling super glue mixed with baby powder is the easiest filler to rescribe panels lines on that I have found. Use the slowest curing super glue that you can find and mix the powder and glue into a paste. Use as little as possible (it won't shrink as it cures) and sand/file to shape as soon as it cures. A fellow member of a model club that I belong to recently built the HPH 1/48 B-52 kit and it makes an impressive model. For size comparison, that's my 1/48 F-106 in the background.

There isnt much special about fibreglass, any putty will do.

Relest Wind Contour Putty could be used, its specially designed for what you want to do but I seriously doubt you would want to spend the kind of money required for a filler designed for what the kit is made of as a box of the stuff would make the money spent on the kit look like pocket change.
