Trumpeter's A-10A into the A-10C, 1/32 scale

Recommended Posts

Thank you guys for your interest and support!

But the older I become the more I feel losing my interest to the modeling. Yet two years ago I was quite enthusiastic to this build and was tend to believe that would complete it in two years or so. But now I found myself to be a reluctant modeler.

Does getting older really mean to leave aside some previous habits and even the hobby?

We all go through the urges and surges... and life has become rather turbulent and crazy these days, some might say...absurd!

You do some lovely work that some of us can only aspire to, but at the end of the day... you do you.

Just hope you're ok!

Thank you Andy for your nice words of encouraging and support!

But the world looks to go mad and sometimes it's getting me down badly.

Cheers!

Hi there,

Back to build again.

Made new air scoops.

On the photo:

below - new scoops;

above - the in kit $hit.

BTW, I hade to fill the area where the scoops supposed to be placed as the kit offers to place them onto wrong position.

I think it needs to be said that all the in-kit panels and riveting lines are positioned wrong but to fill and remake them all would be a real a$$ pain. LOL

Will be back with more updates soon.

Can't upload other images. It says the error500 occurs. Can't figure out why.

Hi guys,

some more updates.

I filled riveting lines on the bottom of the rear portion of the fuselage and that on the rear wing.

I used rivet decals from the Quinta Studio (BTW, very nice stuff, highly recommended).

But for the A-10 rivets one should use the rivets for 1/24 scale as better ones to fit the real scaled down size.

For smaller rivets where relevant use rivets for 1/32 scale.

This is how the new riveting lines look like.

i love this old school scratchbuilding! we have been spoiled by all of that resin availible...

Yep, 3D technologies grow up and wide. 3D printers now come to be usual on-table device. World changes and develops dramatically but we are getting older.

The eyes are not so keen as years ago and it sucks. But the modeling must go on! 🙂

This build is amazing, very tidy work.

I'm looking forward to see how you tackle the nose shape.

Hi there,

Talking on the nose shape...Well, the Trumpeter's guys were like those artists who perceive things the way they watch them through their own eye. LOL

The shape was absolutely incorrect. Too bulbous and short. about 1 cm shorter that it should be.

So I eventually managed to reshape it the way it could be practically done.

Of course, to make 100% accurate shape would be time and the material eater.

So with the use of various files, epoxy putty and sand paper and wide range of images of the prototype I cobbled up the new shape.

This is how turned out.

The initial shape viewed from above:

Apparently, the nose of A-10 is pretty hard to get right. The Trumpeter always reminded me of Italeri's 1/72 scale nose. Nice work.

Thank you for appreciation of my work on the nose.

Yes, the nose shape is quite sophisticated to replicate. What I did so far is approximately closer to the real thing configuration.

Still it's under the process. It is to be completed after the canopy from the Hannants to arrive.
