Collin
Picked up the AMDG 1/48 P-47D decals (A48-006) Decal instructions shows a hard demarcation between the factory delivered NMF and the squadron applied OD during the Summer of ‘44. Guessing it was field sprayed, so a soft demarcation (vice the hard demarcation in the decal instruction). Assuming as well further OD sprayed over invasion stripes. Any reference photos out there of this squadron and these early bubble tops? I’ve had a hard time finding pics. Cheers Collin
Joe Hegedus
The few pictures I have (that I found in the Freeman Collection at the IWM site) show that the field camo on the NMF Jugs was painted with a hard line between the camo uppers and the metal lower surfaces. If you're doing "Miss Carriage" (I know that is on one of the AMDG sheets, but not sure if it's that one), the demarcation is definintely hard - photo in the book "The 356FG in WWII" by Kent D. Miller, published by Schiffer, on page 256.
