Geoff M
Started this kit earlier this month. I must say it is a joy to build. Detail and fit is way beyond any Phantom I have ever built. I am doing this one out of the box but using Furball decals for a Phantom from VF-142 early in the Vietnam war. Here are some progress shots. Here are some of the inserts that need to be placed. As long as you remove the nubs left from cutting off the sprue the parts fall into place. Shots of the nose gear well and cockpit Fuselage coming together. Working on the wings. Wings and fuselage coming together. The nose and tail are just snapped into place. I was going to use a fin top from the Zuike-Mura kit (it fit perfectly) but the antenna blister at the rear was different than what was needed. I ended up filing and sanding the antenna on the front of the tamiya fin tip off and it turned out fine. This has been a lot of fun to build. Thanks for looking. Geoff M
A few updated pictures today. Painting done. I tacked the canopy on with white glue so I could paint all at once. Canopy removed to finish the cockpit. Everything fits flawlessly Gloss coated to apply decals and then seal coated. This can dry overnight and do some panel accents and weathering. Getting close to being done. Thanks for looking. Geoff M

Geoff M
Finished up the panel line wash and decaled the missiles. From pictures and books I've seen it looks like in the early years they didn't carry full loads of missiles. Usually just 2 of each sparrow/sidewinder so that is what I have added along with the centerline tank. Just need to put a final dull coat on and it is done. thanks for looking Geoff M
