delayar
Hi, i am currently building the F-4B from Tamiya. I plan to use the kit markings from VF-51 in 1972. The question I have is regarding the paint scheme. Was this aircraft painted in a gloss or flat finish? Thanks, Markus
Joe Hegedus
Looks flat to me.
delayar
Thanks a lot. I will go with a flat finish. Cheers, Markus
jonwinn
Believe it was FS16440 when painted, "weathers" to FS36440
aircommando130
Wasn't that particular Phantom named "the supersonic can opener" cause of the bird painted on it with that beak? Cheers...Ron

jonwinn
I use to paint 16440 gloss then do a semi gloss after decals, Testors "ONCE UPON A TIME" made glosscote, dullcote and semiglosscote......no clue if they still do semi gloss in my favorite rattle can. Spruemeister
Semi Glosscoat is a simple matter of mixing the flat and gloss to your liking. “Semi” being the subjective variable in the equation, but more gloss than flat. Try 3:1 gloss to flat and go from there. Rick L.
Scott Smith
On a few of my builds I have used a semi all over and then came back with a flatter clear on top to add a sun faded look.
