paint scheme: USCG PBY-5, USN Duck

Dutch...

so When you say "silver dopw", so you mean NMF, or are you saying the metal fuselage is painted silver?

 

At any rate, Revell released its old 1/72 kit in pre war USN (and separately USCG) markings back in the '70s & 80s.

 

From looking at photos, the fuselage were natural metal, not gray, 

but I would never say never...

Ha!  I built the bottom kit in my youth. And yes, by "silver dope" I meant silver-aluminum paint, as in "not shiny."

Can we assume you've checked out the fairly extensive discussion in the same thread you started at Hyperscale?

 

Leaving the matter of the yellow aside, there would be two different aluminum finishes, aluminum lacquer for metal surfaces and aluminum dope for fabric areas.
