Zvesda announces AC-130J in 1/72

Recommended Posts

Me too! I was planning to use the special parts of the Combat Talon on the Zvesda kit.

Maybe we need someone to do this first, so that they start a new version once this guy is finished... 😉

There needs to be a line of AFSOC C-130s in the modeling mix.   Besides the ACs and the Talon I not really much out there from what I see.  A Talon II would be a great addition.

MC-P and W would also be nice.

There are some aftermarket conversions for both Talon Is and IIs. I did a Talon I with the Flightpath-conversion ages ago and now have the set for a Talon II.

My initial idea was to use the parts of the Italeri MC-130E Talon I for the Zvesda-kit to build an early 80ies Talon I and put the conversion set on the remaining Italeri C-130. My guess is, as soon as I purchase the Zvesda C-130, they will announce a MC-130...

I did a Talon 1 for a buddy who flew them.  That was years ago in 1/48.  I forgot the conversion manufacturer.  I do have the Italeri MC-130E in the stash.  He’ll get another one this time in 1/72, since the big one took some heavies in some of his moves.

That was cutting edge...I have the T1 Fulton nose and whiskers but they never made the tail warning reciever

for the pre Mod 90 Talon to build it in the black and green (actually SAC bomber tan) scheme. I took the flightpath

72nd tail and enlarged it up to 48th scale and could probably build one from old resin blocks and plastic tube.

I made the QRC-84-02 pods for the external tanks out of tube but that's as far as I got with a 48th MC-130E.

I would build a J gunship though...J gunship training is moving here to Kirtland in another couple of years.

Cheers...Ron
