Differences between the AH-64E and a very late AH-64D?

Recommended Posts

Anyone got a good primer on the visual differences between the AH-64E and a late AH-64D?  I know that the E model was originally designated AH-64D Block III before being renamed as a new model, but the earlier D models seems to have been continually updated too.  Things like the Arrowhead PNVS and upturned exhausts can be seen on both, so they aren’t really differentiators.  I believe that the new profile main rotor tips are only on the E, so that’s one way to tell, but sometimes that’s hard to see, especially in flight.  I believe the engines are also more powerful on the E, but not sure if that’s something that can be seen externally.  Any other differences, like antennas or lumps and bumps that are unique to either model?  TIA.
