Airfix Beagle 206 Basset as Royal Flying Doctor Service work in progress

Recommended Posts

I’ve begun work on this build which is a little daunting.

My first task was to create 3 bladed props, achieved by adding a scratch built blade to the other 2 blades.

working on interior now.

My eventual aim is to have this model and my previous RFDS N-22 Nomad, seated on red desert base.

I have added below a couple of photos….one of the completed N-22 Nomad…..and the other is a photo of the basis of the current project.

For your interest.

There weren’t many Beagle/Bassets in Australia to my knowledge….but the NSW Section of the Royal Flying Doctor Service flew 3….FDA, FDB and FDE. They started service around 1967 and were said to be very robust and reliable. These were replaced by N-22 Nomads in 1978…(MSE and MSF)

‘The Nomad kit was from Planet Models…..a resin kit….see image below…the paint and decals were my own. It reminded me why I dislike resin kits, but it was a labour of love….I flew in both types.
