Wolfpack MiG Killer - Tamiya 1/32nd F-4C

Recommended Posts

Year long build of an 8th TFW F-4C with one of those crazy early SEA paint jobs.   List of aftermarket bits and scratch built details is too long to type up.

The real thing.  Note the dozen or two colors of the early SEA paintjob.

That's an awesome Phantom! That southeast asia heat and humidity

would really fade that paint. Then touchup paint never matched. It

definately looks different with the wings folded. Has the early ejection

seats and 750 pound bombs and just looks the part of the air war in

Vietnam. The Phantom has always said "badass airpower"

Great job!

Cheers...Ron

Thanks Ron, sounds like you know your F-4's.    Something about the Phantom...  "The Great American Killing Machine".

Great job; the worn look on the paint along with the stains round up an amazing finish.

The detailing of the seats and cockpit and a interesting choice of ordnance also add up to a great model, thanks for sharing.

Stunning work! First time seeing a USAF Phantom with folded wings...different!

Thanks very much.   Contrary to popular belief, the USAF did fold the wings on their F-4's a fair amount (although to be honest, the vast majority of pics I've found are of F-4C/D's).   Figured I'd do something a bit different while at the same time, reducing shelf space a bit.   Building this in 32nd scale makes one realize how absolutely massive these jets were.
