Ed DeVivo
Greetings all! I just played a coat of AK Real Colors on an F-15E.. Going to do some post shading, then start laying a wash, then oil DOT filter and pigments. I have a nice primer of Mr. Surfacer under the base coat. Im wondering if I should/need to lay a coat of clear satin on the base coat prior to the weathering.. If I do, what brand would you guys go with? Many thanks!! -Ed
ElectroSoldier
I have got some Xtra colour satin that Ive used a few times. I would think the AK satin varnish is also good if you want. A layer of protection isnt needed but not overkill either.
Curt B
I agree that an extra layer of protection can't hurt. I concur with the recommendation for the AK Satin Varnish (AK191), which is GREAT stuff! I've had good luck using the AK recommended thinner, AK712, for thinning this stuff. Suppposedly you can thin with water (per AK), but I've not tried that.
