Danish AF F-16 question

Recommended Posts

The original tailplanes were originally enlarged to maintain an acceptable CP/CG relationship and pitch authority when carrying sensor pods on inlet stations 5L & 5R.  All this (5L/R & stabs) was part of the Block 15 upgrade.  If an F-16 was not capable of carrying those inlet pods there was no real reason to have the larger stabs. OTOH there was no real downside to the larger stabs, with or without inlet pods.

But most of the Danish F-16 DID receive the larger tailplanes at some point...

No, they did not! All our block 1/5/10 airframes retained the smaller stabs.
Also, the stab upgrade had nothing to do with MLU.

Did any/all of your Block 1/5/10 airframes get the MLU update?  It's my understanding MLU was only done to Block 15 jets - or earlier blocks that had already been upgraded to Block 15 specs.

All our (i.e. Danish) F-16A/Bs got the Mid-Life Update.
Some of our F-16s are rather block 50-like now with l/e beer cans, reinforcement plates and HG-like finish.
