SCRAPPED the F4U. Now 1/48 F6F-3K Hellcat

Recommended Posts

This began as a side project, waiting on the decals and other small bits dry on a Mossie NF, also in the works.

Here's the cockpit and the surgery I've done to lengthen the nose to match the -5.

In the background, you can see I sawed down the flaps as well. It's a sickness...

Nice work, Storm!  I hope to make a -4B soon.

Thank you. Conforming my insert to match the exhaust stack cutouts, has been trying. Going slow, bending and gluing.

  • ST0RM changed the title to SCRAPPED the F4U. Now 1/48 F6F-3K Hellcat

The F4U surgery didn't work out the way I wanted, so I binned it.

Pulled out a started Hasegawa Hellcat that I bought from a gentleman's collection, that passed away. He had only painted the interior cockpit parts, so I moved forward from there. It'll be the F6F-3K drone, Pink 14. Here's my progress.
