Toning Down Weathering...

Recommended Posts

Ok so Im dong an F-15E, Desert Storm and have added some sand effects, brown weathering etc... The effect came out very good, however, I would like to tone it down a bit and although its been a very long time, I do recall thinning the base color, which in this case is Gunship Grey, and applying a light mist over the aircraft.

Any suggestions on the ratio, or a better method?

Many thanks! -Ed

Yep, to tone down "overdone" weathering, applying a light mist of the base color by airbrush is a great way to go. I usually start with 9 parts thinner to 1 part paint. Spray lightly and build up wherever you need it.

Thanks! It's been a minute, or two, but I do seem to recall doing this. Wasn't sure about the ratio..
