Thadeus
Very nice work here. A lot of attention to detail. You just have to appreciate the ugliness of C-130. It's so ugly it's pretty.

Steve- Great work on the reinforcement areas, and other external details, really looking good now! Thanks HERC164, much appreciated. Work continues on the air-frame modifications. I had a major mistake when I originally built up the air refueling door area. Even though I was looking at my reference pics, I didn't realize that what I had made was WAY TOO BIG until after I had it glued on and discovered my mistake. I was paying more attention to where the walkway started than where the cockpit ended. I tried to get the entire piece off but, the glue at that point was pretty set and I could only get the back half off. Needless to say I was very angry at myself for making such a big mistake on a very noticeable area. I've tried my best to salvage my disaster and am hoping it won't look too bad once the primer is on top. I'm using some Tamiya putty to blend everything in and I applied some tape to minimize my sanding area. Thanks to all who are staying interested in this project. Cheers...Ron 😅 Guess I'll call this a win for now until I get some primer on it and see what it really looks like. Shape and height seem ok. I still need to add the IR light fairings as well as the regular lights and, lots of other items to the top of the aircraft and the belly too. Also worked on the chaff/flare aerodynamic fairings, the kit ones needed some extra attention. Little steps but, we're making progress. Steve Sanded the fairing fronts flat and added some .030" plastic for the new fairing. I used .010" plastic for the bottom piece.
A-10 LOADER
Minor update on the GhostRider, I attached the modified beaver tail, added a vent pipe using a piece of 0.8mm Albion tubing and, scratched the RWR sensor. Steve
aircommando130
Lookin good! You already have it closed up but that recessed circle in the cargo door is the depressurization outflow valve. It opens with a butterfly plate. You could probably just paint it really dark gray after she's painted. Cheers...Ron

aircommando130
After they banned smoking in the airplane guys who did smoke would sit up on the door with a half cup of water for ashes and blow the smoke out that vent. It would stay cracked just a bit to maintain pressurization. LOL! Cheers...Ron
A-10 LOADER
Since my Armory Models GBU-39's with the BRU-61/A never showed up, I ordered the Eduard ones. I've not had good results in the past with Eduard's bombs fitting their bomb racks so, I wasn't really sure what lied ahead but, today I was pleasantly surprised. Things seem to fit like they should side by side and, front to back. Like with all my suspension equipment everything gets drilled and pinned. To secure the BRU-61 to the bomb rack I used some .020" brass rod. The front pin goes into the bomb rack and the back pin, which represents the umbilical cable, goes from the rack to the pylon. When it comes time for final assembly I'll secure the GBU-39's to the BRU-61 with small drops of two part epoxy. Steve
A-10 LOADER
Gunship update, Working on adding the antennas to the top side of the aircraft, needless to say it's been slow and tedious work. The kit gives you a few, the others I made. I need to find better close-up shots of this area ( very hard to find ) for some of the other, smaller antennas. The two SATCOM antennas are not attached as of yet, I'll add a pin to them and add them at the end of the build. I'll work on the two "bat wings" and the other ones that attach to the wing areas next, thanks for following along. Steve The BRU-61's and the pylons were sprayed, along with the GBU-39's. Lot's of hand painting up next for the bombs. Edited September 29, 2023 by A-10 LOADER

aircommando130
Looking good! Yes...the HC/MC airframes are growing new antennas like weeds as well! Cheers...Ron
A-10 LOADER
Thanks for the kind words everyone, much appreciated. The work on the topside of the aircraft is 98% finished. The two SATCOM antennas and the two "bat wing" antennas are not attached as of yet. I'll add them at the end of the build to make painting easier. I need to come up with something for the IR light fairings and the other lights as well to finish off the top. My replacement windshield (actually they sent a whole clear sprue tree ) arrived on Friday so now I can close up the cockpit area finally. Steve
