New Aggressors

Any F-16 with a Pratt engine will have the small mouth. Block 32, 42, 52. Any jet with the GE engine will have a big mouth. Block 30, 40, 50. The intake is determined by the engine type.

Not all Block 30 jets had MCID big mouth inlets. Early Block 30 jets (30A 30B 30C) had NSI small mouth inlets, as did all of the F-16N jets.

Yes, that's correct. Are there any of those early block 30 jets still flying?

Yup I think the 706th AS has a lot of small mouth block 30’s. Though the days of that squadron are numbered from what I had read. I think the AZ guard he one or two that are a mouth mouthed 30’s as well Basically any block 30 86-0261 and under will have a small mouth intake.

The 706AGRS have only small mouth, as their jets came from 457FW 301FW AFRC. Will likely be limited time though as they are supposedly to loose their jets.
As for small mouth in USAF service, please see my earlier post on page 1 🙂

So far there have had these airframes delivered to them:

85-1472
85-1474
85-1493
85-1501
86-0219
86-0222
86-0229

You can add 86-0216 in Have Glas V and full 706AGRS tail markings, in addition to 86-0231, 86-0244, 85-1556, 85-1554, 85-1479, 85-1475 and 85-1412.

Seems almost as quickly as the 706th got their Vipers, they are going away!  Headed to Homestead ARB to become 'Makos'  Sad to see, it appears they were going to have some really good Aggressor schemes. Some of the Vipers with the 'LV' tail code are already in Florida.

Strange these are going to the Makos? The 93rd FS seems to be fully equipped as-is with FY86/87 jets? The 706AGRS jets are mostly early block 30's FY85/86 with the small mouth intake, likely high in flight hours too, hence I would assume they rather send these to the boneyard than another unit?

I thought the problem was they were too beat-up to be airworthy, is another squadron going to be able make use of them?

My next project is going to be the three-blue scheme they had designed and I'll definitely build a few more of those schemes.
