Robert Garelli
Who makes the best 1/144 Space Shuttle, Revell or Minicraft? Edited February 1 by Robert Garelli
crowe-t
The Minicraft kit has better wings but the Revell kit has a nice shape too. For a full stack kit the Minicraft has a better ET and solid rocket boosters. In the link is a Revell 1/144 full stack kit I built. https://www.arcair.com/Gal13/12101-12200/gal12144-Shuttle-Scarola/00.shtm Edited May 15 by crowe-t
Robert Garelli
Hi Crowe, I did read your build review. I just purchased the old Revell 1/144 747 w Shuttle, and looking to replace the shuttle on it for something better. My local hobby shop has the minicraft kit, so will pick it up. Charlie D.
Some good info here: https://www.spaceinminiature.com/ref/sts/sts_table.html I highly recommend mikes book on the shuttle. It’s cheap and full of references to get you the best shuttle kit.
jetplane
Mike (Crowe-t) is right. 1/144 Revell Orbiter is good base to start, the Minicraft ET & SRBs are much better, But Airfix has good shaped wing profile..depends how much accurate frenzy you want the Shuttle model to be. Combo them together to make a good stack if you can. Of course extra hard work like reworking parts ,adding and removing details to make the model accurate as possible to its full size counterpart will be rewarding. Mike's 1/144 Discovery is a very nice accurate representation of full size stack & inspired many Space folks to build up more accurate Shuttles, If i may say so..😛 Cheers and just enjoy the Shuttle modelling.
