dai phan
A note on the pitot tube, The kit's offering is really substandard and needs to be replaced. Easily done with stretched sprue. One thing you need to know is that the tube does not attach to the wing tip at an angle. Rather it exists STRAIGHT for a very short length .75mm then takes a right turn in 48th scale. Make sure you duplicate this very minor straight exit in your build. This piece is the last one to be attached to the model. There is no need to drill a hole which is impossible to do correctly in this scale. Just apply a tiny spot of thick CA and glue into place. Make sure you sand the mating surface of the tube at an angle. Dai Improved pitot tube. Kit's inaccurate rendering. Wrong profile, too stubby and short. Looks like a snake! Crutch
Flat-out fantastic work, Dai. Thanks for sharing!
dai phan
Regarding the wing tip lights, the kit's offering is really oversized. The real photos show these to be small bumps. The best way is to apply white glue to simulate the lenses. After this is dry, you can even shape them with a moist cotton bud if the profile is too pronounced. GeneK
Excellent thread, Dai!! Really appreciate all the time and effort you take to post such detailed masterworks. Thanks. Gene K P.S. Would be nice if you varied your shooting angle ... for example to get some eye level shots vice 45 degree top views.

Craig Baldwin
Beautiful build. NMF usually scares off most modellers, but you've finished this to a professional level. Congratulations.

The paint is Mr Color Super Metallic 2 SM 201 (Super Fine Silver 2). It is thicker NMF paint so it can hide some surface imperfections. But because of this property, it can also wipe out small details like panel lines, rivets if you are not careful. Compare to AK's Extreme Metal Polished Aluminum, it is also virtually identical but way way way much more robust. Dai Edited July 12, 2024 by dai phan

dai phan
Hello all, The box is good for 1/72 but for 48 it is too small. I do not want the side walls to be seen. Dai Edited July 14, 2024 by dai phan

Does it collapse for storage? Appears to be a big investment, but then, the high quality of your workmanship deserves it, I think. Gene K P.S. I save your pictures as reference, and also to ensure they don't disappear as in many threads with broken server links. I learned my lesson when Photobucket destroyed so many outstanding threads across so many sites!

I learned my lesson when Photobucket destroyed so many outstanding threads across so many sites! It is not foldable and but can be easily disassembled. I just put it together and store in a spare bed room. Dai Edited July 15, 2024 by dai phan
